Denise LaFrance-Staff Writer-Bio
Denise LaFrance Bio My name is Denise LaFrance. I am a completely self-taught painter, fashion designer and writer.I was born on April 4,1964. I'm Canadian and currently reside in Toronto's Little Italy. I was inspired to paint in general after seeing the photo realistic advertisements generated by artists who'd worked for the Jeff S. Himmel ad agency for the BRECK GIRL back in the 70's–although those were done in pastel, and mine are in watercolor and oil…Jeff's ad campaign depicting the photorealistic portraits was definately the inspiration and I have told him so.
I paint portraits, landscapes, comedic scenarios, fantasial stuff, foliage, fractal stuff, custom, classic automobiles, animals…anything!!…in oil, watercolor, acrylic and also illustrate and do collage…I just love to do art. My painting style is versatile… High realism, photo realism, conceptual, fantasial, surreal…and much more. — I also design and sew my own clothes without a pattern as well as do work on commission for clients. My most recent provocative fashion designs are inspired by my close friend : San Francisco gay PORN STAR, fashion designer & Model: Peter Berlin. – - I am currently writing & illustrating a book about the private lives of 1970's porn stars and key people within the Adult Film Industry.
