Professor Foresta Sees the Shrink by Jon
An Italian study has revealed that men have lost several fractions of an inch in penis size since the middle of the C20th.
Professor Carlo Foresta from the University Hospital in Padua compared measurements made in the middle of the C20th with measurements made on a group of 19 year old males. Penis size has shrunk from 3.8 inches to 3.5 inches.
Our endocrine system consists of several glands that excite or inhibit such things as growth. The male sex hormone , testosterone, is produced in one of the system’s glands, the testes. It’s this hormone that’s responsible for sex organ development. Professor Foresta believes that the most likely cause for the decrease in size is environmental changes.
In women such changes have had an opposite effect , an increase in breast size. The ovaries part of the female endocrine system produce the female sex hormone, estrogen. This gives women their female shape.
Women though can’t avoid exposure to more estrogen in the environment. This starts in the womb with mothers who’ve taken the pill. It’s even present in milk as much of what we drink comes from pregnant cows.
The loss in penis size can also be explained by men being overweight or obese. Obesity has a negative effect on the production of hormones during adolescence.
Another study has revealed that our arms and legs are getting longer.
It makes you wonder what the shape of the future will be.
