Brazilian Waxing is Waning- OUCH!

Brazilian Waxing is Waning  by Jon

Would you put a  freshly grilled steak with a temperature of 140° on your pussy? Would you have your pussy flicked 1,000 times with a hot rubber band so you can feel it in each follicle? These are two ways of describing a Brazilian wax. Regardless of what method of hair removal was used a 2011 study revealed that 60% of American women aged between 18 and 24 are sometimes or always without a single pube.
Why do we have pubic hair? No one really knows. It could be to trap pheromones or just to keep the naughty bits warm and ready for the serious business of hanky panky. Full bushes though aren’t really acceptable in a society that wants everything odour free.
When you take a razor to your pussy you’re doing something that women began doing in the C15th for reasons of hygiene. If you visit an art museum and look at old paintings and sculptures you won’t see one tuft. Pubic hair was considered unholy. Goya who painted a woman au naturel had the work locked away and he had to appear before the Spanish Inquisition.
The C20th saw women remove hair from their legs ,arms and faces to give the appearance of smooth skin. All that remained more or less unshaven were their pussies. Why did this change?
One scholar ,Joseph Slade , professor of media and culture at Ohio University, blames it on porn. If you flick through back issues of Playboy from the 1950′s to the 1980′s 95% of the models had full bushes. In the 1990′s a third of the models had partially removed their pubes. Now it’s under 10% that have a full bush  , a third partially shaved and a quarter who’ve removed it completely. In videos it began for hygiene reasons on set. Viewers came to want to see what lay beneath the fur bikini and it’s become so common that natural bushes are a niche fetish. Slade argues that this was a way of infantalizing women.
If it wasn’t porn that set the trend then it was a particular episode of Sex and the City. In 2000 the heroine Carrie Bradshaw had a waxing. She said, ‘I’m so aware of down there now. I feel like I’m nothing but walking sex.’Three years later Victoria Beckham said it should be compulsory from the age of 15. Eva Longoria told Cosmopolitan in 2006 that sex after a Brazilian wax was so good that you wanted to keep doing it. The notorious Kim Kardashian said that women should only have hair on their heads.
It can also be argued that it was due to changes in fashion. Pubes peeping over the top of low slung trousers aren’t very sexy. Janea Padillha saw a woman when she was lying on a beach with what’s politely described as an unkempt bikini line. She emigrated from Brazil to America with her six sisters and in 1987 they opened a beauty salon in Midtown Manhattan. They originally offered the Brazilian wax that removed all hair around the bikini line. This was followed by a full waxing that removed every hair both front and back. Waxing only started to take off in 2000.
Shaving can be a daily business and can cause in-grown hairs. Laser removal doesn’t mean the end of pubic hairs and no one is yet sure of possible harmful side effects. A Brazilian wax , costing $55 or more, can last for four weeks but it hurts. The cheapest version takes off the top layer of skin with the hairs. Women take painkillers before hand. There are salons that offer shots of rum. Breathing exercises are offered to help with the excruciating pain of have 140° wax poured on very sensitive areas. The salons are filled with howls of pain and women shrieking curse words.
After a decade of scalping beavers women may have had enough. Amanda Smash Hyde who fixes faces and waxes places said in  a recent interview that natural, well cared for bushes are coming back in.
This will please Italian men who treasure pussies and have kept their country a bastion of full bushes. They call the vagina una fica , a fig. Young Romans use the expression fica to mean cool. They’d see the return of natural bushes as fichissimo meaning very good indeed or translating literally as ‘the cuntest’.
