LadieZNight writer, talented painter & my friend, Denise LaFrance, emails me-
Devastating news about the sudden loss of our beloved Star and friend, the Legendary Juliet Anderson.(“Aunt Peg”), I was wondering if you’d consider publishing this letter she wrote me with her REVISED biography?
I think, being the perfectionist she was, she’d like the final cut to be available for people to read.
I shall add some photos of us taken last June as well as those of her 3 cats-whom she loved dearly.
Monday January 11th in the morning, Juliet Carr Aka screen name Juliet Anderson…aka “Aunt Peg” Porn Legend was discovered by her friend and neighbor deceased- in her bed. She appeared to be asleep. She suffered for a long time with Crohns Disease.

When I’d gone to see her last June, she’d shown me a bottle of Tincture of Opium which she’d been taking to control the chronic diarrhea that was symptomatic of Crohns. This medicine kept the symptoms at bay and allowed her to be able to leave the house.
Poor Juliet, but do you think she complained for one moment? No. She was upbeat and fun and funny and charming and very hospitable…a lovely, sexy, intelligent, WISE and sincere woman with multitudes of life experience in an action-packed Life that broke that horrid rumor I once heard from a dork that “Porn people are unilateral thinkers”
What a crock.
She and MANY OTHERS in the Industry are anything BUT “unilateral thinkers”.
She loved Life and her gorgeous cats; one of whom is the oldest living of its breed in the world.
Juliet sent this to me. Now I share it with you.
It is her final word…who she really was…
Painting of Juliet Anderson by Denise LaFrance
I was born in Los Angeles, CA in the days before smog and freeways. My father was a renowned jazz trumpet player for the famous Pinkey Tomlin Orchestra (which was famous for the tune “The Object of My Affection”), and my mom was an aspiring actress (but became a wonderful wife and mother). I have one sibling, a younger sister. It was said that I emerged from the womb ready to perform, but severe illnesses during my childhood and adolescence kept me in bed and the hospital instead of on stage and in films. They were only recently identified as Crohn’s Disease, manic-depression and chemical sensitivity.
1956 I graduated from Burbank High School with straight A’s. The following year I worked as an information operator for the telephone company to make money to go to college.
1957-60 I attended the University of California at Long Beach full time, majoring in art while working 30 hours a week at an art and engineering store. This left me little time for a social life. I did find time, however, to orchestrate the losing of my virginity and enjoying numerous lovers.
1960-62 I moved to Hayama, a fishing village in Japan, joining an American lover who was stationed there in the US Navy. I totally immersed myself in the culture and became fluent in the language. I studied Asian art history and the literature of Japan at Jochi University in Tokyo. I also taught conversational English in Hayama and Tokyo. The relationship became my one and only marriage. It was a short but deeply loving and intensely passionate relationship. My former husband and I are still friends.
1963-65 I was a secretary for a film producer who made “nudie” films in Miami, FL. I appeared in a black and white sexploitation film in which I played a clothed police sergeant. The other jobs I had in Miami were for Avis-Rent-a-Car, a cocktail waitress, a fashion model and a receptionist for the home offices of Burger King.
1965 I lived in Mexico City where I taught English at IBM and explored the country.
1966 I traveled through Europe alone (shocking in those days for a respectable woman).
1967-68 I lived in Athens, Greece where I again taught English privately. I also studied Greek art and history at the University, participated in underwater expeditions and was a photo journalist for several Greek publications. I also had the most powerful and transformative love affair of my life during this time.
1969-70 I stayed one year in Italy and the next in Spain
1971-78 I lived in Finland where I was a top ranking radio program producer for the Finnish Broadcasting Company, making programs in English about Finland that were aired all over the world. I worked both in front of and behind the mike, responsible for initiating the topics and completing them in the studio. I also edited Finnish/English translations, was a photo-journalist for the magazine “Look At Finland”, a researcher for the Finnish Tourist Board and taught English to adults and children.
1978 I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, initially planning on making documentary films, but instead was discovered at age 39 by the famous maker of X-rated films, Alex d’Renzy
and went on to become one of the most famous actresses in the “golden era of x-rated” films. I appeared in over 70 films, loops and videos and created “Aunt Peg” – a unique persona exemplifying the lusty, intelligent, self-assured older woman who genuinely loves sex. I also worked behind the camera, wrote for or was the featured layout/story in numerous magazines and newspapers, appeared on radio and TV, had my own mail order business, a casting agency and a fantasy phone-sex service, etc. Most gratifying for me, however, were my stage shows in which I combined sex and comedy and took to theaters all across the country. Nina Hartley was my discovery and was introduced to the public in the video “Educating Nina” (1984) which I produced and directed. It was a huge undertaking with a strong story, talented actors and superb production values. However, this gem was a financial and emotional disaster for me. As the first woman producer of X-rated films, the men who ran that industry were intimidated by me and retaliated by never releasing “Educating Nina”. Devastated, I quit the adult entertainment industry.
1985-90 I moved to a small town in the Sierra Foothills, managed a bed and breakfast, studied the healing arts, opened a massage therapy office and eventually bought a home in the pines. In 1987 I also created the unique and popular “Tender Loving Touch….touch as THE play…not as foreplay”.
1991 I moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area and contributed to the books The New Sexual Healers: Women of the Light: and The Red Thread of Passion and established my bodywork business.
Juliet Anderson AKA “Aunt Peg” was the biggest star of the Golden Era of X-rated Films (late 70s-early 80s). I was in my early 40s when I entered that arena which was unheard of in those days. I continue to be known and appreciated for my work in films.
In 1994 I was presented with the Adult Video News “Hall of Fame Award”, in 1996 I was inducted into the “Erotic Legends Hall of Fame”, in 1999 I received the X-rated Critics Organization Hall of Fame Award, in 2001 I was presented with the “Lifetime Achievement Actress Award” by the Free Speech Coalition for my contribution to the Adult Entertainment Industry, including my discovery of Nina Hartley and in 2007 I received an honorary Doctor of the Arts by The Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality.
1999 I made a ground-breaking educational DVD “Ageless Desire….great sex for couples over 50” featuring 3 real-life couples. It is still selling very well.
I live in Berkeley, CA with my 4 cats, (am) a relationship counselor, a massage therapist and a Tender Loving Touch practitioner.
2009 My plans include making 2 more DVDs: Volume II of “Ageless Desire” and “Tender Loving Touch”.
Juliets beloved Pets. The Black one top left is the oldest cat of that breed in the world.
(Denise continues) My final memories of Juliet are from the day Michael Jackson passed away, in June of 2009, when she and I spent the entire afternoon together at her apartment and later that evening, of she and I sitting at a restaurant for a very special pasta dinner where, together, we sang the song “Sentimental Journey”. Let it be known that Juliet Anderson had a magnificent singing voice. We’d planned on meeting again in July of 2010…(sigh)
PS-that blue sign I sent you a picture of…it is a sign Juliet kept in a highly visible spot by her computer on her desk.
