JEN DOE INTERVIEW 2  Read Jen’s first interview here

1 You were due to shoot with Magdalen earlier this year and then something 
happened. Can you tell us about it ? Actually, Fate was a real bitch in March when she dealt two blows which postponed our shoot until June. First, I was playing in a tennis match, and during a heated rally I ran out wide for a ball, lost my balance and fell hard… I tried to brake my fall by putting out my hand, but landed on part of my racquet, resulting in a fractured tip of the radius of my right wrist – and I’m right handed! Oh yeah – I was so screwed! I have fallen a few times like that before but never broke anything, and just my luck it would happen right before the shoot. Needless to say, I got it caste (in “GFF pink” of course, lol!) and though the cast should have gone up almost to my armpit, I asked the doc if I could just have it to the elbow. Since it wasn’t a bad break (just the tip was cracked), he agreed, as long as I kept it in my sling and didn’t use it – at all!

The second blow came on what would have been the day before our shoot on March 17th, when Magdalene learned of her father’s passing. She hadn’t seen him in over 7 years, so the news hit her extremely hard. She put on her brave face, dealt with a bunch of paperwork and red tape, and traveled to England to be with her family, and to attend the funeral and special medal ceremony honoring her father, who was a decorated soldier in the British Royal Marines.

No one plans for these things, they just happen. And it really sucks. A little time has passed now, and we are both still recovering, and are thrilled to have finally filmed our love scene.

2 That must have been terrible. How did you manage to pass the months 
that followed? Dealing with the cast and its limitations was brutal at first… I mean, all of a sudden there were many things we take for granted, that I couldn’t do – or do very well… I was forbidden to drive until an X-ray showed the bone being healed enough to drive on a need-to-only basis… My personal hygiene was a total pain – showering wasn’t too bad, but since I couldn’t brush my hair while blow-drying it, nor could I put it into a ponytail, I went around more often than not with a rat’s nest on my head. And putting makeup on with my left hand was a joke too, so most of the time I went without and that was scary – but not as scary as looking like some freakish clown-whore, lol! Ironing clothes, getting dressed and undressed, hell even going to the bathroom required a huge effort… But the biggest pain of all, was wanting Veuve Clicquot, and not being able to open the bottle… That SUCKED!! I had to get my neighbors to open it for me, and they always seemed to be gone when I wanted some… Go figure! Oh, and let’s not forget about cooking… It was awkward doing that too, and also led to dirty dishes that I couldn’t wash. So, the delivery guys and gals of Pizza Hut and Panda Garden became my new best friends… For a while I just sat around, eating take out and feeling sorry for myself. That last one resulted in about a 15 pound weight gain, which I left on for filming, mainly because I thought it would validate the fact that I am ONLY a fan and NOT a performer wanna-be like some forum members believed. On a lighter note, I hired my housekeeper to come over once a week during that time – and she really spoiled my ass… I just love her!

3 What has been the fans from Girlfriends Films reaction to your setback? Well both Magdalene and Dan were totally understanding about what happened, and very relieved when I told them I was still on for doing it as soon as my wrist was ready… When I relayed this news to the forum, I had tons of support and well wishes from the true fans. But there were a few in this particular “clique” who took the opportunity to be total dicks - one of whom ended up getting banned for his personal attacks and down right hateful behavior. Oh well, I say fuck ‘em! I won’t let a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch, as the rest of the forum ROCKS!
4 You were just a couple of weeks from the scene when the CalOsha 
meeting took place. You must have been worried that you wouldn’t be able 
to do it without barriers. What do you think about their proposals 
especially relating to dental dams?
Oh yeah… That was pretty weird timing for that to happen, for sure! I have no doubt I wouldn’t have done the movie if I had to use a dental dam. I mean what’s the point? If I’m going to put my ass out there for the whole world to see, I sure as hell won’t do it if I can’t even put my mouth on the woman I’m doing it with! Seriously, CalOSHA, wtf?! Diseases can be transferred via saliva and kissing too, right? So what is CalOSHA going to do about that? Ban kissing altogether – from mainstream movies as well as porn? NOT! Just who the hell are these people anyway? The California Order of Self-righteous Holier-than-thou Assholes? Jeez!

5 You’ve been on a GFF set before but this was the first time you were 
there to have sex.How did it go? Well, I was actually very nervous at first – but not because I was going to be having sex on camera, but because I was with Magdalene, and this really is as much her film as it is mine. I didn’t want to lessen her magnificence or let her down in any way, shape or form… And because I don’t ad lib well, I put unnecessary pressure on myself not to have too many takes with the dialogue… But once the sex started, all of the nerves were gone, and honestly, I forgot anyone else was in the room with me other than Magdalene. It was really awesome! I can still feel her mouth on mine… Mmmmmmmm!

6 What differences did you most notice about sex on and off camera? Well, off camera, I don’t have any “worries”, meaning I have total confidence in myself and in my abilities to please a woman – even when that woman is Magdalene… However, on camera - I worried that if I positioned myself in a certain way, my ass would look even more ginormous… I worried that I would forget to move her hair if it fell in her face while she was going down on me… And I remember thinking things like “How long have I been doing this?”, and “Maybe it’s time to switch and do something else”… I know, it is silly stuff, but it all just ran through my mind on a continuous loop… And I think the biggest worry of all was “What if I can’t orgasm on camera?” I mean, I don’t fake them in real life at all… I have no problem saying that I’m too buzzed or too tired, or I’ll just make my partner cum first so she’ll be tired and won’t care, lol! Anyway, during our scene, as the biggest orgasm I think I’ve ever had was building up inside me, that worry disappeared without a trace, taking the rest of the worries with it…

7 Would you know like to do more or are you sticking to this being a one 
off ?
Nope… It’s definitely a one-time thing for me… I’d love to continue to write stories/scripts for future films or series, but other than that, I’m perfectly happy with the career I’ve got

8 How did your week with Magdalene go? It was AMAZING! Of course she has her own life, which I didn’t expect her to give up just because I was there, though we did get to spend a lot of time together… Hours and hours on set, going out for lunches and dinners (mostly dinners because we didn’t get up until late afternoon, lol!), and enjoying our favorite Veuve Clicquot while having long chats about pretty much everything… We even went out for an hour long helicopter ride over LA and the coastline, had dinner at this great Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills she knew about, went out dancing at this really fun gay bar called “The Abbey”, and then went back to the hotel and, um…. you know ;-) That week was the best week ever! I would just like to add that besides having the incredible honor of being intimate with her, it’s an even bigger honor to be her friend. I’m truly a better person because I have her in my life… Magdalene St. Michaels ROCKS my world!

1. You’re a new performer in the industry. What made you decide to get involved in this battle?
I’m new to the adult industry, but I hope to remain here for a very long time. The Cal/OSHA proposals made by the Aids Healthcare Foundation would vastly change the way the adult industry functions to the detriment of performer safety. For the sake of my own safety and the safety of my adult film contemporaries, I want to do anything I can to fight against these regulations.

2.    How do you feel about the way AIM was closed?
I see a lot of disagreement online about what caused AIM to close, with some pointing the finger at AHF and some blaming the pornwikileaks fiasco. I was genuinely shocked to see AIM fall the way it did. I kept waiting for them to re-open and shake off these AHF ne’er-do-wells for good, and when they never did, it finally hit me what we’re up against.

3. What do you think about the AHF and Shelley Lubben?
I think the AHF is misguided at best. I think that some of the people at AHF genuinely think that what they’re doing is for the benefit of the adult industry and that the dissenters will eventually realize that we were wrong to fight them all along. My optimism about their good intentions aside, I wish they could see that their proposals would only regulate our industry out of existence.

Regarding Ms. Lubben, I have sympathy for her for any negative experiences she had during her brief stint in the adult film industry, but I find that a lot of her claims range from questionable to patently false. She’s more outspoken than she is informed and I urge anyone to think twice and do more research before supporting her or her organization The Pink Cross.  She is the last person I want speaking on behalf of me or my industry.

What were some of the high and low points of the 7th June CalOsha meeting?
The highest points for me were the impassioned voices of performers speaking eloquently and intelligently about our work and industry. I was actually very pleased to read the new altered proposal which allows for oral sex without a barrier if both performers are vaccinated against HPV, HPA, and HPB and have been tested within the past two weeks. Before the meeting I had only seen the original 17 page proposal that included barrier protection for any sex act as well as all sorts of superfluous guidelines regarding laundry and sharps.
The low points were when the board reached the end of their patience and lectured the attending performers, insisting that we were there to discuss the agenda, not discuss whether performers should be considered independent contractors or compare the health risks of the adult film industry to risks taken by professionals in the stunt industry or by ultimate fighters.
Why is it so important to distinguish between being an employee and an independent contractor?
As an independent contractor, Cal/OSHA regulations don’t apply and I could operate according to the existing safety and testing standards that have proven safe and successful  for the past 14 years.
On the other hand, as an employee, I cannot ask that my costars maintain the currently accepted standard of getting tested for HIV, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea every thirty days, because it would be considered workplace discrimination. 

Consider this scenario:
I show up to set and discover that I have been cast to work with someone who is HIV+.   I tell the producer that I don’t feel comfortable having sex with the person for the scene because if the condom breaks, I run the risk of being infected with HIV for the rest of my life. Cal/OSHA regulations dictate that I be replaced by a different performer and the scene be shot with the new performer and the HIV+ performer. It would be discrimination to replace the person who is HIV+ in that instance.

In any other workplace, where the job is something OTHER than having sex with people, these rules make perfect sense and are important for protecting citizens from workplace safety hazards and discrimination. But when it comes to porn, it’s genuinely more dangerous for everyone to follow those same rules.

Are the proposals for you an infringement of personal liberty?
The proposals are absolutely an infringement of personal liberty in the name of “protecting” citizens from their own freedoms. The fact that Cal/OSHA board members claimed at the meeting that they were only trying to look out for the safety and well being of performers (by taking away our best means of protecting ourselves, imposing irrelevant rules and mandates, and regulating our whole industry out of existence?) is frankly just patronizing.
Should performers create a union?
I think the idea of creating an adult performer union is certainly worth pursuing. We have a lot of great minds in the industry and I think we could create something that could go far. I would be especially interested to see a performer’s union that champions performer privacy and safety.

What can people do now?
Write to your legislator and ask for a variance in the Cal/OSHA regulations for Adult Entertainment!

1 Can you tell us a little about your background ?

I’m Claire Adams, a Pro Bondage Rigger, Director, Model, BDSM Educator, and Rope Maker. I have been involved professionally in the BDSM world since 2001 and active in the BDSM community since my teens. 2 How did you get involved in the BDSM scene ?

Privately I knew it was already an interest of mine slowly culminating since early childhood. The first BDSM lifestyle book I read was at 16. It was “A Different Loving” by Gloria Brame. 4 What is it that you like about bondage rigging and how easy is it to become a bondage rigger ?

I enjoy that bondage rigging tests my intellectual and aesthetic limits while at the same time sharing with someone else how and why I enjoy restraint. Rigging is quite dangerous and takes a lot of skill and discipline for the person learning how to tie.

5 Which do you prefer synthetic or natural rope and why ? What’s your favorite color ?

It depends on what I am using the rope for. Damon and I own and operate Vintage Rope, our company that specializes in Japanese Hemp, my personal favorite natural fiber rope. I love many colors and enjoy working with as many different types of rope that I can.

10 How has the fetish scene changed since you became involved with it ?

It has become more rope centric. Many communities nationally and internationally have used it as a gateway introduction to the bdsm community where people can feel safe to explore who they are in a public setting and learn more about what other types of BDSM play may interest them.

11 What do you like about teaching about fetishes ?

I have an opportunity to impact someone’s life and open their eyes to new ways of looking at their bdsm skills and their connections with themselves and others.

13 Nina Hartley and Tristan Taoramino are both great sex educators. What did you learn from working with them ?

The demand for Vidal’s services is clear. Since late last week he has worked for Digital Playground, Pierre Woodman and LiveGonzo.com, which is owned by Raul Cristian who has booked Vidal every Saturday from now through July. This week he’s scheduled to perform three more times for Digital Playground.

“The energy I have right now is not the energy I had when I was here 10 years ago — it’s double energy now,” Vidal said. “I’ve been waiting for my working visa for 10 years and finally this is like a dream come true for me to come back. I don’t want to fuck it up.”

He continued, “Every scene that I do I try to make it the best scene of the year.”

10 What was it like doing a scene with , industry legend, Melissa Monet in Triangle’s Intimate Pursuit? She was incredible!! She’s so amazing and as you said a legend! 12 You’re a fan favorite at Girlfriends Films. Weren’t you afraid that their predatory contract star India Summer was going to eat you alive? That’s the way I’d love to die!! 1 Can you tell us a little about your background ? I like to keep my personal and private lives separate, but here is what I can tell you. I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I used to be a little bit of a tomboy growing up. But I have always been attracted to females. As I got older and began to “fill out,” I started to get lots of attention from both sexes and I really enjoyed it!

2 Why have you decided to go into porn ? I have always been an extremely sensual and sexual person. I LOVE watching porn and I LOVED meeting all the performers when I got the chance. 4 How is the search for work going ? Will you eventually move to California ? The search is going extremely well actually. Things are starting to line up and within the next few months I start working on some projects. I don’t think I will move to CA anytime soon. I like TX and it is my home. There are no state taxes here so it is cheaper to stay here and just fly to locations when I am needed.

5 What kind of work are you looking for and what kind of work won’t you accept ? I am looking to do photoshoots and video. I am going to be a girl/girl only actress. Madison congratulations on the birth of your daughter Emma.

1 Was the pregnancy easy ?
I had an amazing pregnancy.  I was very active and still traveling for work up until 8 months into the pregnancy.  Between the 9th and 10th month was very challenging though.  I had around a month of pre-labor contractions.

2 Was it hard to combine your busy work schedule with being pregnant ?
I think my busy work schedule kept me healthy and active.  I loved being pregnant, feeling sexy and taking on the world.  I was traveling to Amsterdam, NYC, Australia, LA, Berlin and all over the world while I was pregnant for work.  I was teaching sexuality workshops, doing bondage performances and suspensions,making tv appearances for the television show “1000 Ways to Die”, modeling, speaking on panels, and making appearances at screenings of my films at film festivals.  I felt healthy, glowing and inspired. I didn’t really start to slow down or feel that traveling was becoming challenging until the 7th month.

3 What effect did pregnancy have on your libido ?
I still had a healthy sex drive while I was pregnant.  I wouldn’t say that it was greater or less than before the pregnancy.  I enjoyed sex in different ways.  In many ways I was much more sensitive.  My breasts were more sensitive, my labia, my whole body.  I was able to orgasm even easier during pregnancy and ejaculated much easier through out my 2nd and 3rd trimester.  I did have to alter sex positions through out the pregnancy and be mindful and alter what elements of bdsm I was engaging in through the pregnancy.

7 Do you want more children ?

I chose my name based on a few influences.  The short answer is this; What do you think of when you hear “India” and “summer”?   What is summer like in India?  HOT HOT HOT!

It was a wonderful life experience.  I live in LA, so it is always a thrill for me to go to San Francisco. I love that city!  Most adult video shoots take from 1 to 3 days to complete, maybe 4 days, but this movie took a full week to do.  There was a lot of time and effort put into it and I think you can see that in the quality.

The cast and crew had a lot of time to be around each other and become a team.  There was a lot of creative “back and forth” between the directors and the actors.  There was a strong plot and outline for the movie but as actors, myself, James Deen, and the others had the challenge of improvising much of the dialogue. Doing a project like that, there are a lot of good times, tense times and frustrating times, but that is the beauty of the artistic process and I love it.

I love the bonding that comes with the amount of time you are forced to spend together and the challenges that you have to overcome together when doing a movie like that.

I could go on and on…from all the behind the scenes stuff to how amazing it was to be a part of the climactic swinger’s orgy at the end of the movie.  I think it will always be one of the highlights of my life.

I can’t avoid to talk about  two movies where you had a good buzz, we are talking about the porn comedy “Not Married with Children XXX” and your role as Sarah Palin in “Drill Baby Drill” What does mean that recognition of your habilities for your careeer?

“Drill Baby Drill” was really the one for me.  I received a 2010 AVN Best Actress nomination for that movie and I think that is the role that really got some people to take notice of me.  I threw myself into that role and studied and prepared as much as I could for it.  Another thing about that movie is that I was allowed to add several jokes and some of my own dialogue to the script.  I am very anti-Palin and being from the opposite side of the political spectrum I relished the opportunity to mock her.
I loved doing “Not Married” too.  I love that show and I watched it growing up.  I really enjoy doing the adult parodies because it gives you the chance to play some of your favorite characters. As an actress, I appreciate having a script, a plot and interesting settings and sets.  I like that these type of movies give me a chance to express my other talents as well as my sexual talents.

Some performers are complaining about the crisis in the business, Are you still working in the same way that in the last months? Does India Summer notice about that crisis?

I understand what those performers are saying.  Being an entertainer or athlete or independent contracter of any kind is always living in a kind of “low-grade” crisis, because you may never know where your next paycheck is coming from.
The first 2-3 years of my career were a constant crisis.  You are always hoping and praying that your agent or a company is going to call you and book you for a job, and that the money wont run out before you get your next job.
You are always hoping you’ll get that chance and opportunity at the right role, or that the right person will notice you.  Even in the best of times, being an artist or entertainer is not the most stable or ”crisis-free” career.
Ever since the collapse of our economy, times have been challenging and hard in the adult industry, just as it has been for most people in all industries.There have been a couple of industry “shut-downs” because of HIV scares in that time also.
While I have experienced some of the effects of the crisis, I have been fortunate in that my career seemed to be taking off and growing at the same time that the industry was “tightening it’s belt”.
I was offered the contract by Girlfriends Films and I’ve been in more demand than ever before.  So…no, it hasn’t hit me as hard as it has hit others in my industry. Again, even at the best of times, this industry isn’t for the faint of heart.

I would like to remember you signed in 2009 for the best lesbian company in the porn business, everybody knows I am talking about Girlfriend Films. What means for you being a part of the Girlfriends team?

It means everything to me.  As we were just discussing, Girlfriends Films contracted me as a performer in the beginning of 2009 and it has made all of the difference in the world to me.  First of all, as a performer, I knew that I could count of having work and some reliable income. It has given me a peace of mind and allowed me to focus my concentration on performing and getting better.  Working for GFF has also allowed me to grow a performer and to experience and express my love for women.  The support and stability I have had through Girlfriends has been invaluable to me.  It’s possiblethat  I wouldn’t even be in the adult business any longer if they hadn’t been there.
